Hidden Level is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to apply their skills and experience to design new and improve existing mechanical solutions for advanced sensor systems.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you can expect to…

Work in a motivated cross-disciplinary environment:
  • Work in a small, dedicated team passionate about solving challenging problems and delivering results
  • Collaborate with Systems, Digital, RF, and Software engineers to design and improve hardware systems
  • Participate in collaborative, cross-functional design reviews
  • Aid in the creation and review of requirements and develop solutions to meet design goals
Design electro-mechanical packaging and emplacement solutions for large and small systems and sub-assemblies:
  • Use 3D solid modeling to design mechanical solutions for tightly controlled enclosures and fixtures
  • Perform structural, thermal, seismic, and other failure analyses to meet environmental requirements
  • Optimize designs for feasibility, manufacturability, cost, thermal performance, strength-weight efficiency, and ease of assembly
  • Create and maintain cable assemblies/harnesses and other peripheral interface designs
  • Solve design challenges using a variety of materials and fabrication methods including plastics, composites, metals, 3D-printing, machining, etc.
Support the entire life cycle of new and existing products from the ground up:
  • Define, maintain, and communicate requirements to 3rd-party fabrication houses and work closely with them through delivery
  • Perform design verification efforts for new parts and solutions and support in-field testing
  • Author assembly instructions and drawings in support of in-house production
  • Aid with the management of bills of material (BOM) and other production and fabrication artifacts
  • Review hardware parts for obsolescence and identify suitable replacements

A successful candidate will have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years related professional experience
  • Experience with the design and development of detailed mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling tools
  • Working experience performing thermal and structural analysis, detailed tolerance studies, dimensional fits and clearances analysis, and environmental hardening
  • Experience with strict configuration management and design control
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and overcome technical challenges through teamwork and collaboration
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with the ability to listen, question, and understand stakeholder needs
  • Experience with or the willingness to learn:
    • Design challenges related to radar, communication, and other sensor systems
    • Solidworks 3D modeling software
    • FEA simulation using ANSYS software
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
    • Configuration management systems such as Perforce and PDM
